Sugpiaq Alutiiq Cultural Arts in Washington State
In-Person Programs
PNW Alutiiq Culture Camp offers Washington State–based in-person cultural arts and language opportunities that help Sugpiaq Alutiiq people reconnect with community, culture, and traditional ways of being. Each spring, we host our annual multi-day culture camp, ending with a Community Day that welcomes the broader community to learn, share, and celebrate together. Throughout the year, we also offer hands-on workshops such as beading, weaving, and other traditional arts practices, as well as museum and collections visits including opportunities to engage with ancestral belongings and Sugpiaq Alutiiq material culture. Online Programs
Our online programs create accessible opportunities for Sugpiaq Alutiiq people across Washington State and beyond to engage in cultural arts, language, and community from home. Through Zoom-based workshops, participants receive mailed art kits and join together to learn traditional arts practices in a supportive multigenerational environment. We also offer seasonal online dance classes that encourage cultural connection, movement, and the continued practice of Sugpiaq Alutiiq dance traditions. Go to www.facebook.com/pnwalutiiqculturecamp
